Orchard St. - Retail, Commercial & Mixed Use

This team will investigate ways to propose redevelopment along the corridor and propose types of businesses that could reinforce the character of the district and its overall connectivity. The team will look into ways a commercial mixed-use corridor could help revitalize a neighborhood and explore ways it could respond to incoming needs.

  • Are there ways to restructure the block (and mid block) that could improve the streetscape and its public domain for pedestrians?
  • Who could other stakeholders be and help to anchor such a corridor?
  • What types of connectivity would be needed to enhance the corridor North/South & East/West and to where (Residential, health district, etc)?
  • What would be the road character and performance (road speed and accident ratio) suitable for retail and pedestrian activity (transit, mixed-use office and housing)?
  • What parking configuration are required for a pedestrian oriented mixed-use district?
  • What building typologies are required for a pedestrian oriented mixed-use district?
